EFCC arrests cleric, twin brothers, 25 others for alleged internet fraud in Ilorin
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Ilorin zonal command arrested 28 people on Thursday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, suspected of being “Yahoo-Yahoo Boys.”
According to the anti-graft agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, the arrest was made at Mandate Area, Ilorin, as a result of actionable intelligence on the activities of fraudsters operating in the area.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects included a cleric, twin brothers, six students from various institutions, a mining operator, and a slew of other specialized private individuals.
“They are cleric Toheeb Albarka, twin brothers Lambe Kehinde and Lambe Taye, dog seller Francis Stephen, Olabode Yusuf, and Musbaudeen Akorede, and undergraduates Moshood Okunola, Kayode Aderemi, Ayobami Olorunfemi, Paul Ayomide, Agboola Marvellous, and Adebisi Olatunde.”
“Ogundiran Nathaniel, Tiler; Jamiu Ishola, Printer; Dauda Tunde, Plumber; Abdullahi Sikiru, Bet Naija Agent; Kasali Afeez Adegoke, Website Developer; Jordan Adeyinka, Wears/Shoe Dealer; and a driver, Ojeniyi Boluwatife are also among the suspects.”
Adedamola Samson, Olarewaju Adisa Taofeek, Adewale Oloro, and Omogbolahan Ibrahim are among the others.
“Among the items recovered from the suspects upon arrest are ten exotic cars, various brands of laptops and cell phones, and a printer.”
The suspects will be arraigned in court once the ongoing investigations are completed, according to the agency.
