Atiku warns Fani-Kayode and Onanuga over ‘inciting’ speeches against Igbos.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, has warned the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council spokesmen, Bayo Onanuga and Femi Fani-Kayode, over alleged inciting speeches against Igbos in Lagos.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said their statements were a reflection of their principal, who had failed to condemn the violence two days after the elections.

According to Atiku, the Nigerian constitution allows anyone in any part of the country to vote and be voted for, regardless of religion, gender, or tribe.

He claimed Tinubu’s actions amounted to reversing some of Nigeria’s democratic gains.

“Bayo Onanuga, a previously respected journalist who claimed to have contributed to the fight against dictatorship, is now supporting injustice and attacks on Igbo for daring to vote in Lagos,” he said. When you associate yourself with Bola Tinubu, this is what happens. Your mind and soul become tainted.

“For Fani-Kayode, Nnamdi Kanu’s handbag, he has suddenly become an ethnic supremacist, encouraging the suppression of the Igbo people in Lagos all in the name of impressing his paymaster.” We didn’t have high hopes for this Jekyll and Hyde.

“What tribal bigots like Bayo Onanuga and Fani-Kayode won’t tell you is that Ireti Kingibe, a Yoruba woman, was recently elected to the Senate to represent the FCT.

Atiku also slammed Tinubu’s campaign for requesting that the National Broadcasting Commission fine TV and radio stations that continue to invite Peter Obi of the Labour Party for interviews that call Tinubu’s legitimacy into question.

Atiku praised the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) for petitioning the Federal High Court to prevent the NBC from suspending broadcast station licenses.

“Tinubu’s campaign team has already given us a preview of what his administration will look like,” he said. It will involve voter suppression, unimaginable corruption, repression of free speech, and a total compromise of government agencies.

“This is yet another Nigerian tragedy for a man who rose to power on the claim that he led the struggle for the actualization of the June 12 mandate.”
