Surulere Constituency 1: Desmond Elliot defeats the LP and secures reelection
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nollywood star Olusola Elliot, has been declared the winner of the Surulere 1 State Constituency election in Lagos by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dr. John Fenuga of the University of Lagos, the Returning Officer for Surulere Constituency 1, announced the results on Sunday at the Surulere Local Government Collation Centre in Lagos at 8.02 a.m.
Elliot won with 17,837 votes, while Bode Adebayo, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, came in second with 7,822 votes.
“Olusola Elliot of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and received the most votes, is hereby declared the winner and is re-elected,” Fenuga said.
Sulaimon Aderemi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in third with 1,045 votes, while Esebamen Aigbokhaode of the ADC came in fourth with 81 votes.
“Omotosho Oluseyifunmi of the ADP came fifth with 57 votes, Olalekan Oshodi of the SDP came sixth with 56 votes, Sulaimon Aderemi of the AA came seventh with 28 votes, Peace Onwuboro of the NNPP came eighth with 19 votes, and Folami Akinpelumi of the BP came ninth with 16 votes.
“In addition, Malik Opeyemi of the APP came tenth with three votes, and Nnadi Nnaemeka of the NRM came eleventh with two votes,” Fenuga said.
Similarly, the Surulere Constituency 2 Returning Officer, Dr Marian Quadri of the University of Lagos, declared the result on Sunday at 8:15 a.m. at the Surulere Local Government Collation Centre in Lagos.
Mrs Mosunmola Sangodara won with 21,894 votes, Sunday Famoritade of the Labour Party came in second with 20,892 votes, and Olaboeale Johnson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in third with 2,034 votes.
According to her, Sangodara of the APC is declared the winner and is re-elected after meeting the requirements of the law and receiving the most votes.
“Kamoli Mogagi of AA finished fourth with 1,172 votes, Clement Lawanson of NNPP finished fifth with 208 votes, Mobafolu Ogunbiyi of YPP finished sixth with 611 votes, Olubola Adesanya of BP finished seventh with 150 votes, Quadri Aileru of ADC finished eighth with 94 votes, and Juliana Kanpe of ADP finished ninth with 86 votes.
“Olaseni Esere of the SDP finished tenth with 59 votes, Eliajah Oseni of the PRP finished eleventh with 32 votes, and Ahmed Olashile of the PRP finished twelfth with six votes,” Quadri said.
