British Delegation Visits Wike, Call For Credible Elections

The British High Commission in Nigeria has expressed interests in that the upcoming elections in Rivers State,and the country at large are free, fair and credible.

 

Jonathan Bacon, The Political Counsellor at the Commission’s office in Abuja, said this after a delegation led by him met behind closed doors with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in the state.

 

Bacon reiterated the British Governments commitment to supporting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in achieving an acceptable election next year.

 

“We discussed how we could further strengthen the cooperation between the UK and Nigeria, and the UK and Rivers State,” he said. “We also discussed the electoral period, looking ahead to 2023, and I reiterated the British Government’s position that we are supporting the process.

 

“We are working very closely with INEC and we are hoping for a free, fair, and credible election in 2023. So, we discussed that and it was a very productive exchange.”
