The Nigeria Police has arrested Mr Ikenna Ezenekwe, the Editor-In-Chief of 247 Ureports over a story he published on the former Chief of Staff to Ex- Governor Willy Obiano of Anambra State, Mr. Primus Odili, .
According to his wife, the plainclothes Police officers with a tinted glass vehicle arrested him yesterday in a commando-style and took him to the Police Headquarters in Abuja.
“Yes he was arrested in a dehumanizing manner yesterday by plainclothes Police officers and taken to the Police Headquarters,” the wife stated.
It was revealed that he was arrested over a story he wrote on the former chief of staff to the former Governor of Anambra state, Mr Primus Odili.
It was further learned that after unyielding pressure for him to reveal his source of information on the story, the Police Police transferred him from Force Headquarters to Maitama Police Station to continue further interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Police at Maitama Police Station has refused to release him unless he reveals the source of the said story.
His colleagues have alerted relevant local and international organizations on the connivance of Mr Primus Odili and the Nigeria police to detain Mr Ezenekwe in a case that is purely a civil matter.
