Okrika Language audio Bible ready next month

The Translators and Technical Team of the ongoing recording of the Okrika Language Bible have been lauded for their speed and devotion to the work.

This remark was made by the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, when he paid an unscheduled visit to the team at the Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Okrika in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno who expressed satisfaction with the ongoing recording also praised the personal efforts of the Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia.

He said the Bishop’s passion of the project has greatly contributed to the progress of the work and appealed to other denominational heads within the Wakirike Territory to support this laudable project.

The Chairman said the Okrika Language Audio Bible, when completed, would add value to the expansion of God’s work and facilitate the understanding of the Okrika Language Bible.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno reiterated the commitment of the Bible Society of Nigeria to remain a vital and essential  partner to the Church to grow the spread of the Gospel and bring the Written Word of God to all people, irrespective of any challenge.

In his speech, the Head of the Translation Team, the Venerable Godstime T. Orabere and the Resident Minister of Saint Gabriel Anglican Church, Bolo in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, disclosed that the Books of the Minor Prophets, Joshua, First Kings, First and Second Samuel had been recorded.

Venerable Orabere stated that First Chronicles has been concluded, while Second Chronicles was on going, adding that although the work was all demanding, the team would put in their best to produce a quality work.

Speaking also, the Head of the Technical Team, Mr Yemi Adeniji, unfolded that with the level of work so far done, the project would be completed by the middle of July 2022.

In another development, the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, has commended the General Overseer of the Chapel of Victory International Ministries, Port Harcourt, Bishop Ayo Odunayo, for his support to the BSN.

Ayo-Tamuno who was a guest of the Church during its 2022 Bible Week Celebration declared: “If all Denomination Heads of the various Churches support the Bible Society of Nigeria, the aim of the Society to reach the Nigerian society with the Written Word of God (The Bible) will be achieved without much stress.”

He said further that “the BSN as a vital and credible partner of the Church, is ever ready to support the Church in its evangelical efforts with the Bible to expand the Kingdom of God at all times.”

The Chairman impressed it on the Church to embrace the Bible Society by enrolling as registered members to enhance the Society’s operations.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno expressed optimism that members of the Church which he tagged BSN “friendly” would henceforth place the Bible Society of Nigeria on its front burner.

Speaking, the General Overseer of the Church, Bishop Ayo Odunayo, assured the BSN that the Church would continue to support the Society to deliver on its mandate to make the Bible available to Nigerians.

Bishop Odunayo who personally distributed the BSN Membership forms to members of the Church said that a minimum of 1O members would enroll in the Special Members Category.

He commended the BSN for its efforts in assisting the Church in translating the Bible into Nigerian languages which would help in making the Bible available to Christians.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of BSN literatures to the Bishop by the Area Chairman.
