Gov Umahi’s younger brother, wins Ebonyi South Senatorial APC Ticket
The ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Ebonyi State on Saturday during its senatorial primary election that took place in the three senatorial zones of the state, elected Governor David Umahi’s younger brother, Austin Umahi as the winner of Ebonyi South senatorial zone.
It was gathered that Austin Umahi contested with the wife of the former chairman of the Ebonyi Traditional Rulers Council, Mrs. Ann Agom-Eze.
Ann Agom-Eze, a former women leader of APC and founding member of the party in the state, allegedly contested against the directive of the governor for consensus.
Austin Umahi belongs to the new APC members led by Governor Umahi while Ann Agom-Eze belongs to the old members led by the former chairman of Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Chief Elias Mbam.
Ebonyi South senatorial primary election took place at the Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state, revealed that Austin Umahi scored 279 votes to defeat his rival, Ann Agom-Eze who got 5 votes, while the total number of votes cast is 284.
Similarly, in Ebonyi North Senatorial zone, the former Commissioner of the Ministry of Abakaliki Capital City Development, MCCD, Mr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi was declared winner to defeat his rival, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogbaga, the former House of Representatives member.
Ebonyi North senatorial primary election which took place at Abakaliki LGA of the state revealed that Nwebonyi scored a total of 272 votes to defeat Mrs. Ogbaga who scored 6 votes.
While, in Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, the chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, Chief Kenneth Eze, who contested unopposed scored a total of 290 votes.
Ebonyi Central senatorial Primary election took place at Onueke community in Ezza South LGA of the state.
