Abducted Abia 2023 power shift advocate regains freedom

Abducted Abia 2023 power shift advocate, Sir Dave Agwalla (Okwadike), has regained his freedom.

The Port Harcourt, Rivers State-based businessman and political activist known for his campaign for power shift to Isuikwuato District in 2023, was kidnapped on Thursday, May 12, 2022, during one of his routine visits to his Umuokogbuo Eluama Community, where he is supervising a road project being executed by the community through self help.

Reports this Sunday morning indicate that Agwalla, who was also kidnapped in the past, is once more a free man. News of his release was posted on the WhatsApp groups of both Umuokogbuo Development Union (UDU) and Isuikwuato District Welfare Association (IDWA), where his abduction was earlier announced on Friday.

“To God alone be all the Glory, our brother, Dave Agwalla (Okwadike) has been released,” said a message on both WhatsApp groups.

No further details were provided and Agwalla’s numbers remained unreachable as at the time of filing this report.

News of his release immediately lifted the dour mood in Isuikwuato, with many commentators thanking God over the development.

“We thank God and say: odoemena! (May it not happen again!) Welcome back,” said a relieved Senator Emma Nwaka, a distinguished son of Isuikwuato and Abia 2023 governorship hopeful on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Another illustrious Isuikwuato son, veteran musician and political activist, Chief Frank Ebere Ikoro (Frank Fyne), said: “Thank God for Dave. His release is our release. It points to our collective victory upon every challenge that may come our way if we remain physically n spiritually united such as we demonstrated in this case. To Dave I can only urge him not to relent or be intimidated by it hence we’ve gotten to a point of No Retreat No Surrender as far as The Isuikwuato District Agenda is Concerned. Aham Ewhula…. Isuikwuato District Nwo Nmadu is our bottom line. Okwadike ilooooh!”

As earlier reported by News Express, Sir Agwalla was abducted “between Umuahia and Nunya road” and taken to an unknown location. His kidnap had immediately ignited panic while prayers poured forth for his safety and early release in view of his selfless contributions to the development and progress of Isuikwuato and Abia State.
