At least four people killed in Rivers community
Gunmen suspected to be cultists have invaded Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, killing four members of a rival cult group.
An indigene, who spoke in confidence, said crisis over levy collection between the rival groups led to the murder.
He said: “The killing is connected to the ongoing battle for control of Illegal levy known as ‘matching ground’ between the two factions of the group. So far, at least four people have been killed”.
It was learnt that some residents were fleeing the area for fear of escalation of violence.
In February, gunmen killed another member of a rival group in the community.
The acting Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, was yet to respond to the incident. (The Nation)
