Gov. Umahi sacks management staff of Ebonyi College of Education

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi on Wednesday sacked the management of the state’s College of Education, Ikwo.
Umahi made the announcement during the state’s weekly Executive Meeting in Abakaliki.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that some members of the management had before Wednesday been on suspension over alleged illegal employment in the college.
The governor said government had received the report of the committee on illegal employment in the college.
“Executive considered the report and resolved that the entire management of Ikwo College of Education be sacked effective from Feb. 9, 2022.
“Management is to hand over to the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Education immediately.
“A committee made up of the Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, SSA on Religious and Welfare Matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, and the Commissioner for Education, Dr Zyl Nwangele, is to recommend to the Executive, persons that may be appointed to manage the college for a period of 30 days.
“Advertisement shall be made for those that will run the management of the college within this period
“All casual workers are hereby laid off. All employments created from 2019 are cancelled,’’ Umahi said. (NAN)
