Defection to APC: Rumour grows with Ikpeazu’s visit to Buhari

The visit of the Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday fueled speculations that he intends to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Photos on social media of Ikpeazu with President Buhari sent many tongues in the state wagging.

Many believe the visit is connected with his rumoured intention to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, had once teased Ikpeazu about joining the ruling party.

“You are already a progressive at heart. You are progressive in action,” he told the governor at an event.

He affirmed that he was not going to leave the PDP.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Abia State Governor, Mr. Onyebuchi Ememanka, rubbished the rumours on Thursday.

He said “Nonsense” in a WhatsApp message.

Asked what the mission of the governor to Aso Villa was, he said: “You will hear shortly”.
