The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stella Okotete, on Thursday, decried alleged cases of women abuse in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.

She urged Governor Yahaya Bello to probe the development.

In a strongly-worded statement, Okotete urged the governor to set up a Commission of Inquiry on the matter.

She said a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development was attacked and many women were beaten up.

According to her, a serving female Councilor representing Ajaka Ward II of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi, Zainab Otigbele Omaga, was also assaulted at a function in Idah during the Christmas celebration

Okotete, who represents women in the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, called for the immediate investigation and psychiatric diagnosis of those involved.

According to her, a leading party member who has been accused of assaulting the women must be reined in.

She wondered why an elected official will lead thugs to attack Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, a Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman during a stakeholders meeting.

Okotete said the incident left many women injured with severe degrees of injuries.

The National Women Leader pleaded with the victims and people of Idah LGA, in general, to keep faith with the APC.
