The Benin Medical Care (BMC) says it has recorded no maternal mortality since its inception in 2019.
Dr Oluwagbemiga Durojaiye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, disclosed this during the second year anniversary celebration of the hospital held in Benin on Monday.
Durojaiye said the hospital, established by the Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), was set up to uplift the health condition of the populace through provision of quality health care services.
According to him, the hospital has had 270 deliveries since inception through normal deliveries and cesarean sessions with no single record of maternal mortality.
He attributed the zero death of pregnant women during and after delivery to efficient antenatal services as well as prompt responses.
The CEO also said the hospital had more than 30,000 consultations, about 1,400 admissions and over 400 surgeries during the period under review.
“We have done outstanding knee replacement surgery and Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP).
“The hospital is committed to the use of cutting edge technology and patient-centric approach to meet the health needs of the populace,” he said.
He said the hospital looked forward to dealing more on preventive medicine, minimal access surgeries and robotic medicine.
“We want to help people to become aware of their health through community outreaches, and the need for them to do regular check ups even when they don’t feel sick.
“We look forward to staff development; training and retraining, international collaborations, making functional our dialysis centre and partnership with LAPO C4 programme,” he said.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the VIP clinic in the hospital to provide executive care in a cosy environment. (The Guardian)
