29,000 applicants jostle for Osun 2500 teaching appointments
At least 29,000 applicants wrote the aptitude test conducted by the Osun State Government in collaboration with Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to employ 2,500 teachers.
Daily Trust learnt that 31,000 job seekers paid N3,000 each to participate in the Computer Based Test at JAMB centres in the state but 2,000 candidates jettisoned the test.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Jamiu Olawumi, confirmed the figures in a chat with Daily Trust in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Olawumi said the money paid by the candidates was for the JAMB pin and that the process was transparent.
He said the results of the tests would be released within 24 hours after the aptitude test.
The Commissioner for Education, Mr Oladoyin Folorunsho, said 1,500 teachers would be recruited into secondary schools, while 1,000 teachers would be employed into elementary schools across the state.
Meanwhile, many applicants who wrote the test have intensified lobbying with politicians and top civil servants so as to secure a slot in the employment exercise.
