DESOPADEC opens bursary website for Delta students

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Com¬mission (DESOPADEC), has announced the launch of its much awaited bursary web¬site.

The revamped website has features such as simplified design, improved menu func-tionality and enriched con¬tents areas to help students of the DESOPADEC mandate areas, to make informed appli¬cation for their bursary.

The Commission displayed the website “www.desopadec¬bursary.ng and urged all inter-ested and eligible students to visit the Website to apply and complete their application forms.

The commission also stat¬ed that only students who come from DESOPADEC mandate areas of Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ika, Ndokwa and Urhobo and currently study¬ing in the University or Poly¬technic in Nigeria are eligible to apply. “They must also be at 200 Level and above (for Uni¬versity students) and ND2 (for Polytechnic students).

“The following items are required, recent Passport Photograph, Student ID Card, Letter of Admission, Local Government of Origin/Iden¬tification Certificate and a let¬ter of Identification from the Students’ Union/Association Chapter President of Ethnic Nationality would need to be uploaded, to complete the fill¬ing of the form”.

Launching the website to kick start this year’s bursary process, the Managing Di-rector/Chief Executive Offi¬cer, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, disclosed that the present Board has the interest of the students at heart, hence the fruition of this programme.

“Let me say that at DESOPADEC here, we have the interest of the students at heart, even though provision of bursary is not our core man¬date to operate. We believe that where appropriate and where the finances are available, it will be in the need for us to intervene in that area.”   (Sunday Independent)
