This was contained in a letter dated January 4, 2021 and signed by the President and Secretary, Titus Osuagwu and Kenneth Chukwukere, while reacting to alleged recent killings of the Igbo in the state.

The U.S.A-based Igbo indigenes also appealed to the governor to ensure that justice was served to the families of those who lost their lives during the reported Oyigbo massacre and to open up avenues that would address youth restiveness and crimes in the state.

The letter partly reads: “We have, along with other Igbos, Nigerians and the world, been witness to social media videos of the recent bloodshed of Igbo youths, the destruction of a major Igbo market and places of worship by the military in Oyigbo Igbo community, Rivers State.

“We have deep and sad thoughts about these killings and destruction prompting a break in our silence to write this open didactic letter to Governor Nyesom Wike.”  (Daily Independent)
