Robbers kill colleague during operation in Ondo

An armed robbery suspect has been shot dead by his colleague while they were fleeing a robbery scene.

The incident happened at Oktitipupa area of Ondo State.

Witnesses said the robbers had robbed a Point of Sales operator and attempted to run away when the victim raised the alarm.

The alarm made residents in the area gave the robbers a hit pursuit.

In an attempt to scare the mob, one of the robbers fired shots into the air but mistakenly hit his colleague on the head.

The witnesses said policemen from the Okitipupa Police Division recovered two guns and a bag snatched from the POS operator from the dead robber even as the fleeing colleagues were later apprehended.

Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said it was nemesis that caught up with the robbers. (The Nation)
