A billionaire politician and governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 election in Bayelsa State, Keniebi Okoko, has died unexpectedly.

He reportedly died yesterday, Tuesday, April 14, 2020, while doing liposuction cosmetic surgery in a Lagos hospital.

“Unfortunately he never survived the liposuction surgery as he died inside the cosmetic surgery theater room in Lagos because of power outage as the back up generator refused to come up,” says Lawyer and Entrepreneur Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, who broke the news on his Facebook wall.

Liposuction, or simply lipo, “is a type of fat removal procedure used in plastic surgery,” according to Wikipedia.

Keniebi Okoko was the CEO of KDI Engineering and also a pastor who co-founded Salvation Ministries, one of the biggest churches in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

He was a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, Carleton University, USA, and Harvard Business School, USA.

Pastor Okoko’s death was announced by Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, during morning worship at the Government House.

An inside source at the Government House in Yenagoa said: “We are in shock and wondering why such a high class hospital, where he must have paid a huge sum of money, could not have a functional standby generator during the surgery.”
