List of Osinbajo’s Aides Allegedly Sacked by Presidency
Reports have been making the rounds that 35 aides to Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo were sacked by the SGF, Abba Kyari while President Buhari is away in the UK. News say the VP could not reverse the action to save his aides.
It is not clear why these aides were sacked but information going round imply that the Presidency may be of the belief that Osinbajo has more Aides than the President himself and there needed to be a cut down. Itthat the VP had lobbied to delay the sack so he could discuss the matter with the President but the SGF has gone ahead to effect the sack.
With Nigerians debating the eligibility or not of Kyari’s powers to sack the VP’s aides, a statement issued by a senior aide to President Buhari,
Mr Garba Shehu, seems to clarify the foggy twist.
According to Shehu, Buhari’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, “The SGF has responsibility for the issuance of letters of appointment, and where the need arises, sack letters as well.”
However, an aide in the Office of the SGF, Willie Bassey, said he was not aware of the sacking: “I am not aware of any letter. I am hearing such thing from you for the first time. I am not aware of it.”
There is no comment yet from the President on this matter.
