Some indigenes of Enugu State based in Anambra have started already positioning former Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu for the governorship of Enugu State, ahead of the 2023 general election in Nigeria.

The group under the umbrella of Ikeoha Support Group (ISG) in Diaspora Sunday at Onitsha has called on Senator Ike Ekweremadu,  former Deputy Senate President and current Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District to join the 2023 governorship race in Enugu State.

In a letter the group addressed to Ekweremadu, the group listed reasons behind their call on Ekweremadu, who has the title of Ikeoha.

Among other reasons the group said that Ekweremadu belongs to politicians of “super ranking”, higher degree of experience, solid visibility in Nigeria and thick global reach needed to move Enugu State to the foremost level of development where it rightfully belongs in the league of affairs in Nigeria.

The letter was titled ‘Enugu 2023: The Need To Bring The Service Of A Tested & Trusted Hand With Massive Experience, National Visibility & Global Reach To Bear In The Governance Of Enugu State: A Call On Senator Ike Ekweremadu To Contest The 2023 Governorship Election In Enugu State’.

Among the signatories were the group’s chairman Mr. Matthew Eze, an engineer,  comrade Samuel Njoku- Secretary and Anthony Okwute, Publicity Secretary, with Bishop Simon Omah and Chief Matthias Ogili as patrons respectively.

Members of the group vowed to mobilize support for Ekweremadu to the best of its ability.

They said as sons of Enugu State, they have keen interest on how to enthrone the best of leadership that can guarantee prosperity with tight security and rapid development in all sectors of governance in their dear State.

For that reason, they said, they have carefully studied the situation of things, and after extensive deliberation decided to urge Senator Ike Ekweremadu to join the 2023 race to the Lion Building office of the Governor of Enugu State

They wrote: “We believe that he has all it takes to harness the resources of Enugu State into productive services, attract Federal presence like never before and use his wide connection across the globe to attract fortune to Enugu State”.

They said the issue of zoning should not come into picture now, considering the challenges facing Nigeria mostly insecurity and economic quagmire, so they were of the opinion that Ekweremadu is the right choice for Lion Building.
