Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that it has commenced a search to fish out from hiding the alleged killer soldier of one Miss Jennifer Ugadu, an undergraduate student, at the Niger Delta University, Ammasoma in Bayelsa state.  The deceased was allegedly shot dead by her jealous lover, the soldier, now at large, in her apartment. But reacting to the report, the Army said it has begun a joint investigation to unravel the identity of the suspect. The Army said it would ensure that justice is served because it upholds and respect fundamental human rights of every citizen as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Saying it commiserates with the deceased family as  it takes the issue seriously, the Army stated that the ongoing joint investigation includes profiling of the suspect. The Army reassures that there is no place for such barbaric act in the Nigerian Army, adding that the details of the investigations would be made public.

The director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a press statement said the Nigerian Army being a disciplined organization insists on zero tolerance for any form of criminality.
