Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has charged leaders and members of Christian community in the country to continue to pray for God to intervene in the myraids of challenges bedevilling the nation.

Okowa gave the charge when he played host to Prophet Isa El-Buba of the Initiative for a better and brighter Nigeria (IBBN) and members of his entourage at Government House, Asaba.

The governor disclosed that the problems inhibiting sustainable socio-economic growth and development of the country were multi-faceted, stressing that it was only God that could help the nation get over them.

He noted that Delta in time past, passed through turbulent times, affirming that it was God that brought relative peace to the state, even as he reminded Christians of the need to work as a family in seeking God’s face in the affairs of the nation.

He attributed the success of his administration to God’s divine providence and favour, adding that the state would continue to put God first in all things.

He lauded Prophet El-Buba for his move to galvanise Christians in Nigeria to stand for Christ, just as he urged him not to relent in being a true ambassador of the body of Christ.

“At the moment, there are lots of challenges in the nation and the question is, what actions do we have to take as Christians? We cannot just sit down as Christians and believe that the leaders in the land alone are able to do things for us.

“I believe that as church leaders and even those of us who may not be playing prominent leadership roles in the church but are Christians, ought to learn and to continue to believe that God knows everything that happens in the land and He can turn things around.

“The power of prayers matter a lot. The Christian and his faith matters a lot. Unfortunately, as Christians, we tend to undermine the powers of that faith.

“I do believe that the voices of our elders in the church have been held and that God will turn things around in His own time.

“God alone knows why we are going through this trials at this time. I believe that things will turn around for the better. God will do a new thing in Nigeria.

“A lot of our people are worried and are beginning to lose hope because of the way things stand at the moment. But we must, as a body of Christ, continue to renew their hope and to let them know that every person as a Christian has a role to play.

“We must be able to exercise our faith. I want to believe, Sir, that your going out to mobilise people because you have been led by God and we must actually, as Christians, also mobilise ourselves spiritually to be able to stand the test of time,” he stated.

Earlier, Prophet Isa El-Buba said that he was in Asaba to pray for the state and the country at large, emphasising that the initiative for a better Nigeria was to enthrone a government in the country that would stand for the good of all.

Prophet El-Buba, therefore, called on believers in the country to join the crusade irrespective of their denominations.

He commended the Southern Nigerian Governors Forum for issuing a communique aimed at addressing major problems confronting the nation and enjoined Nigerians to kick out any political party that would bring more sufferings on the masses.

Prophet El-Buba who also congratulated Governor Okowa for his inspiring developmental efforts in the state, sued for his support in achieving the cardinal goal of the initiative for a better Nigeria.
