About 100 Lagos bound passengers aboard an Aero Contractors Airline flight are currently stranded in Kano, Kano State, as the aircraft suffered a bird strike, 15 minutes after takeoff from the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Sunday.

Daily Independent gathered that flight N2142 scheduled for Lagos at 08:45 took off at 09.30, but the captain aborted the Boeing 737 flight 15 minutes after the bird strike and consequently made an air return.

More than four hours after the incident, the enraged passengers were still at the departure wing of the airport.

Efforts by the officials of the airline to appease the passengers were said to have gone on deaf ears as all other options to get to their destination (Lagos), were futile.

All other scheduled airlines operating into Kano from Lagos and Abuja (Max Air and Air Peace),were said to have been fully booked until Wednesday.

Another operator into Kano, Azman Air, was shut down last week by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), over safety infractions. (The Independent)
