Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, the Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Abia Chapter, has called on Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu to rehabilitate the failed Port Harcourt Road, Aba to save businesses located in the area.

Ehiemere noted that the rehabilitation of the road started in 2017 and had remained uncompleted till date, adding that people living and doing business in the area had continued to suffer.

The APGA chairman made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Aba on Wednesday.

“I appeal to the governor to look at Port Harcourt Road and even if it means doing a palliative work to make it motorable.

“There are many businesses within Port Harcourt Road axis, that generate revenue for Abia Government.

“But since the demolition of buildings to pave way for the reconstruction, the project was abandoned.

“If you go to Port Harcourt Road, many people who live or are doing businesses there are suffering, many businesses have collapsed, suffering is written boldly on the faces of people there.

“Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu should give attention to that road even if it means doing palliative works, that will reduce the sufferings of the people,” he said.

Ehiemere said that Abia Government has no excuse not to provide dividends of democracy to the people, adding that neighbouring states of Ebonyi, Imo and Anambra, that he claimed Abia is richer than are executing people-oriented projects. (NAN)
