Wanted kidnapper nabbed by Police in Aba

Nigeria Police officers attached to the Aba Area Command, Abia State, have  arrested a member of a kidnapping/armed robbery syndicate said to be terrorising Aba and environs.
The suspect identified as Darlington Olewumbu, an indigene of Obazu Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State and a resident of 20, Christ Street, off Ibere Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State was said to be a member of a three-man kidnapping/robbery gang on the wanted list of the Intelligent Response Team (IRT).
He is alleged to be a member of a kidnapping/armed robbery gang responsible for kidnapping/robbery activities in Aba since last year and early part of this year.
ABUJAPEOPLE gathered that Olewumbu was arrested by a team of crack detectives led by SP Alphonsus Ayang, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ndiegoro Police Division, at Agu Street, off Evina Road, Ndiegoro, Aba through a tip-off.
According to the sources, a locally made revolver pistol with one live ammunition, one locally-made double-barrel shotgun and six rounds of live cartridge were recovered from the suspect.
The sources said that upon interrogation, the police discovered that the suspect and his gang were about executing another kidnapping mission before he was nabbed.
They said that the police had intensified a search for the remaining two members of the gang now at large.
Police Commissioner Ene Okon confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
He described Olewumbu as a hardened kidnapper, who had been on the wanted list of criminals.
Okon said that the police had launched a manhunt for other members of the gang, adding that Olewumbu is undergoing interrogation.
“He is not alone. We are tracking other members of the gang. We will arraign him and others after the interrogation,” the police boss said.
