Police seal company in Abia over crashing of Cryptocurrency scheme

An office of a company running a Cryptocurrency Scheme has been shut by Abia State Command of Nigeria Po­lice in Umuahia following sus­pected crashing of the scheme.

It was gathered that the company under the name “Goldman Horizon Profit LTD” which started operating the scheme within Abia State capital about two months ago equally established branches at a shopping mall along Warri Street by Uzuakoli as well as at Umudike.

Though, the actual number of affected subscribers who fell into the suspected scam could not be ascertained as at press time, but those involved may run into over one thousand, a source told our correspondent

The occupation of the com­pany’s office at another shop­ping mall opposite the General Post Office, Umuahia by the Police, Monday evening fol­lowed an angry mob attack at the Warri Street branch of the company destroying property within the mall.

However, following the suspected crashing of the scheme, many of the sub­scribers who had arrived the branches for their cash out were put into jeopardy as the staff of the company could not give explanations on why they could not receive their profit from their invest­ment.

It was learnt that under the company’s agreement with customers is that each subscriber would receive 40 percent interest of their total investment after 10 days. (Daily Independent)
