Over 200 pupils were delisted and substituted with ineligible candidates writing the 2020 West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Bauchi State.

Commissioner of Education Dr Aliyu Tilde, who made this known to reporters said the names of the 200 (of the 13,000) candidates who registered cut across 30 of the 170 examination centres.

Tilde said the figure might be higher than the uncovered figure as the government was taking its time to verify the list independently and arrive at the exact figures.

Tilde had on August 16, a day before the start of this year’s examination, raised the alarm that the WAEC list was paddled with ineligible candidates by some principals in their various schools.

He, however, admitted that some of the victims also committed errors at the point of registration adding that the errors cut across biometric and misspellings.   (The Nation)
