Apostle Sam Adegoke aka Apostle Sam Mobile-fire, of Elijah Generation Church in Akure, Ondo State, has apologised to women with whom he had sexual encounters before his marriage. The pastor said he regrets his sins and has taken time from public ministry to ponder and make restitution.
Adegoke, who recently married, disclosed this in a statement released Wednesday.
The PUNCH also reported that he apologised to the ladies involved, his wife, family, members of the church and those who looked up to him for spiritual guidance, while also taking responsibility for his past actions.
The pastor revealed he had had sexual connections with women before his marriage, describing the incidents as acts he now sincerely regretted.
Over these past several weeks I have taken some time away from public ministry and social media to reflect, to seek counsel and to deal honestly with issues from my past.
Before I got married I had sexual interactions with ladies that I really regret. While these occurrences had place before to my marriage, I admit my behaviour was not appropriate and did not meet the standards of holiness, honesty and self-control that I am supposed to uphold as a Christian and minister of the Gospel.”
“I am not making excuses for my actions, they were before my marriage, I have been seeking God, having pastoral and professional counselling and examining my conduct,” Adegoke added.
“I accept full responsibility for my conduct and genuinely apologise to the women concerned for any hurt, disappointment or harm I may have caused.
“I also apologise to my wife, my family, my church, my colleagues and all who have trusted me and looked to me for spiritual leadership,” he added.
He stated his decision to walk away from public ministry was part of efforts to address his actions and make the changes that are needed.
“I know that repentance is shown by change of behaviour, accountability and willingness to take responsibility for the consequences of your actions,” the cleric stated.
’I shall therefore continue to be subject to proper spiritual, pastoral and professional responsibility during this process,’ he said.
Adegoke also prayed for the public to pray for him as he desired the humility and bravery to face his actions honestly, make restitution where necessary and allow God generate genuine transformation in his life.
“I ask for prayer, not that my actions would be justified, but that I would have the humility and courage to face them honestly, make amends where appropriate, protect those affected, and allow God to produce genuine transformation in my life,” he wrote.
“I am very sorry,” he concluded, “and I pledge to moving forward with greater integrity, responsibility and accountability.”
