The Benue State administration has applauded the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other partners for their efforts to consolidate efforts in addressing flooding in the state.
The compliment was given by Governor Hyacinth Alia at a full-scale simulation exercise on flood at the BSEMA Secretariat in Makurdi, writes The Nation. Access Services
The exercise, conducted by NEMA, BSEMA, UNDP, UNICEF and other partners, was aimed at testing disaster response mechanisms and enhancing readiness.
The Executive Secretary of BSEMA, Dr. James Iorpuu, said through his representative, Mr. John Ati, that the simulation will help to identify weaknesses in disaster preparedness and strengthen collaboration.
The Acting Zonal Director of NEMA Mohammed Suleiman represented by Dr Tony Amama said the exercise is timely.
Governor Alia, through his Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs, Mimidoo Ann Kandef, reiterated his administration’s commitment to protect lives and property from floods and appealed for continued collaboration from stakeholders.
