Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are to finally fight in the ring as their much-hyped heavyweight showdown was officially scheduled for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The announcement ends years of speculation over a match between two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight boxing stars, who have held many world titles but have never fought each other professionally before. The Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh confirmed the bout on Thursday and the event would be streamed around the world on Netflix.
The battle had been the subject of months of wrangling over its schedule and venue. There had been talks about London, New York and other locations before Cardiff was chosen. The battle will be staged at the Principality Stadium which boasts a retractable roof and has hosted significant athletic events.
Fury and Joshua have been linked to fight each other for over a decade. Both fighters have long careers at the highest level, and have won world heavyweight titles.
Fury enters the contest with a career record of 39 wins, two losses and one draw, including 25 victories by knockout, Matchroom Boxing said. Joshua has won 30 fights, losing four, with 27 of his victories coming via knockout.
Fury returned in 2026 after time out from the ring, winning against Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach. Joshua has also back to winning ways, winning his last fights against Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga.
Neither fighter presently has all four main heavyweight world belts but their histories and previous championship successes have made the fight one of the most anticipated boxing bouts of recent years.
Netflix said that the battle will be streamed for free to its users worldwide. There will be a press conference with both combatants on September 30 in London and the undercard will be revealed in due course.
So the December 11 bout will be the first time Fury and Joshua have met as professionals, bringing to the ring a rivalry that has primarily been fought through negotiations, public pronouncements and years of anticipation.
The two former heavyweight champions will finally settle their feud inside the ring in Cardiff after years of fruitless attempts to make the battle happen.
