The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has put the former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Force, Abdulrashid Maina, wanted.
The declaration was made in a statement issued by the commission’s Head, Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale today.
Maina was arraigned alongside his son, Faisal on October 25, 2019, on 12-count allegations bordering on money laundering and concealment of proceeds of illicit act.
Daily Trust said that he was later sentenced to 61 years in prison.
Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja convicted Maina of allegedly stealing N2 billion destined for pensioners and expressed remorse that many pensioners died out of pain.
The ex-head of the pension reform task team was convicted on counts 2, 6, 9, 3, 7 and 10 of the allegations.
He was also found guilty of hiding his real name as a signatory to accounts opened in UBA and Fidelity Bank.
It was stated Maina had used the identities of his family members without their knowledge.
The accounts included cash deposits of N300million, N500million and N1.5billion.
It also said Maina could not verify that the money in the accounts was not stolen.
The latest public notice from the EFCC reads: “The public is hereby notified that ABDULRASHEED ABDULLAHI MAINA, whose photograph is above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties. Maina, 61, is a native of Biu in Borno State.
“Any person with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.”
