The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on candidates of other political parties to desist from making unrealistic campaign promises ahead of the 2027 general elections that they cannot deliver on becoming power.
He stated political campaigns should be demand-driven and not hyperbole, Channels TV reports.
Obi made the statement at a town hall gathering with NDC members and supporters in Kaduna State. Obi used the interaction to urge for issue-based campaigns ahead of the general election.

Speaking on his vision for the country, the former Anambra State governor also promised to spend his yearly holidays in Nigeria and not overseas should he be elected president.
“The president should be close to the people and use such periods to visit different parts of the country, especially communities that are experiencing insecurity and other challenges,” he said.
The NDC vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, used the town hall meeting to motivate voters to participate in the political process.
The gathering also provided party members and supporters a platform to engage directly with the presidential candidate and highlight problems related to the country’s political and socio-economic growth.
The Kaduna meeting is part of the party’s drive to increase its grassroots participation and get its political message to voters.
