The children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are switching schools in the U.K. just two days after beginning classes after the family’s security team raised concerns about transportation arrangements.
Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, started school in Britain earlier this month, after Harry and Meghan returned to the UK following six years in California.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s spokesman confirmed on Monday that the children will change schools following talks with their security team.
The spokeswoman said the decision was made for the children to change school after a talk with the family’s security staff about the logistics of their existing arrangements.
The family have kept private where they have moved into and where the children will go to school.
The family home was said to be a long way from the old school and the route to the school was heavily trafficked, raising worries about whether the security arrangements would be sufficient to protect the children on their regular journeys.
The Sussexes said the decision was not a reflection on the school or its staff.
“Harry and Meghan continue to be extremely grateful to the teachers and staff for the care they have shown to their children,” the spokesman said, adding that the move should not be taken as a reflection on the school.
The move coincides with yet another evaluation of Harry’s security procedures in Britain.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal obligations in 2020 and went to the United States. In Britain they are non-working royals and do not automatically get taxpayer-funded police protection, which is given to senior working members of the Royal Family.

Harry has previously criticised the British government’s decision on his security arrangements, saying he and his family suffer “significant risks” when visiting or living in the UK.
Harry’s case is now before a government commission tasked with monitoring security arrangements for key public officials. Meghan is also going through a thorough risk assessment, ITV News understands.
So the new school change comes against the backdrop of the greater issue over security for the Sussexes since they returned to Britain.
Neither the names nor the locations of the two schools have been released to the public, with the family keeping a tight lid on the children’s education and everyday activities.
