The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has appointed Mrs Ramatu O. Ibrahim as Acting Bursar following the death of the institution’s substantive Bursar, Mallam Nasir G. Marafa.
Ibrahim’s appointment took effect on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after receiving the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, and the concurrence of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Malam Isa Yuguda, CON.
The university said the appointment was necessary to maintain administrative continuity and effective oversight of its financial operations. Registrar of the institution, Mr Oladipo Ajayi, said Ibrahim’s extensive experience within the Bursary Department made her suitable for the assignment.
Prior to her appointment, Ibrahim was Deputy Bursar, Treasury, where she supervised key aspects of the university’s treasury operations. Her career at NOUN has also taken her through several operational units of the Bursary Department, giving her experience in accounting, financial management and related administrative functions.
Management expressed confidence that her knowledge of the university’s financial systems and institutional procedures would help sustain efficient, transparent and accountable financial services during her tenure.
The university also paid tribute to the late Marafa, describing him as a committed and dependable officer whose service contributed to the financial administration and development of NOUN.
While congratulating Ibrahim on her appointment, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the university’s management, wished her success in her new responsibility.
