Former BBNaija star, Natacha Akide, commonly known as Tacha, has broken her silence days after her detention, saying that the allegations levelled against her were baseless.
Tacha was arrested at her Lagos apartment on Sunday, 30th of August, for refusing to honour police invitations.
She told Saturday Vanguard that the arrest was due to an internet allegation that she cheated a woman to the tune of N5 million.
In a conversation with our reporters on Thursday, Tacha said the issue started from a social media user, Olajide @joph007_. who claimed she took money from a woman who was in need of financial help to pay her husband’s kidney transplant.
In a video, Tacha said she shared images of the posts, which she said contained “derogatory” comments from Olajide, including calling her “Ashawo” and making other comments about her character.
“I have never spoken to the woman concerned before,” Tacha added.
“Somebody just went online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who needed financial help for her sick husband. I’ve never talked to the woman before.”
The issue took a turn for the worst when the allegations got viral and eventually resulted in authorities getting involved, she said. Her legal team initially dealt with the problem civilly before it turned into a criminal probe, she said.
Tacha said the N5 million fraud accusation was entirely unfounded, stating that she was cooperating with the authorities to clear her identity.
