The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has asked members of the public to help in identifying and finding the family of a six-year-old child, Haneem Hussaini Bello, who was discovered roaming and sobbing in Abuja.
The boy was found around the NNPC Towers in the Central Business District, at approximately 3pm yesterday, Friday, September 4, after he got separated from his mother and siblings, reported The Nation.
Haneem told the police that he and his mother and siblings had flown from Bauchi State to Abuja for the summer break.
He said the family had gone to the Central Mosque for Juma’at prayers when he was suddenly separated from his mother and brothers and could not find his way back to them.
The child was later found screaming and wandering around the NNPC Towers and was placed into police protective custody.
The toddler was found wearing carton-coloured trousers and a brown shirt with black and white stripes on the left side.
The child is in police custody while efforts are being strengthened to trace his parents and reconnect him with his family.” This was made known yesterday in a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh called on members of the public with relevant information that may help the police in identifying or locating the child’s parents or relatives to come forward.
She called on anyone with useful information to report to the local police station or call the FCT Police Command Spokesman on 07038979348.
The Command reminded the public that efforts were still ongoing to achieve the safe reunification of the six-year-old youngster to his family.
