The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, to come and answer questions.
Daily Trust reported that Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesman, said this while replying to Sylva’s charge against the Commission.
In his resignation letter from the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday, the former governor had accused the anti-graft agency of acting more like an organ of the party than an institution of the state.
Sylva said he had given a copy of the letter to the EFCC, accusing the Commission of being an arm of the governing party.
The former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources also accused the APC of losing its fundamental beliefs and said the Tinubu administration has disappointed Nigerians.
He added, “As one of the founding members of the APC, and one who joined other well-meaning Nigerians in building the Party with sweat and money, it is deeply saddening to see how thoroughly and unrecognisably frustrated the ideals we espoused have become.
More than that, I cannot in good conscience be a member of a Party whose leaders believe that ‘all is fair in politics,’ and who have always shown that conviction in practice.
All can be fair in no attempt of life. It is forbidden by the norms of basic decency and morality. Sadly, this mindset seems to be behind just about every move, and even inaction, of this administration.”
But replying to the charge, Oyewale said, “He has been declared wanted, he should make himself available to the commission.
Earlier, it was stated that the EFCC had declared Sylva wanted in November 2025 over an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.
Sylva, who investigators said was an alleged key financier of the conspiracy, is accused of providing around N785m through Purple Waves Limited, an Abuja-based firm.
