Terrorists have reportedly slain a commercial driver, Jibrin Mohammed, on the New Bussa-Ibbi route in Borgu LGA of Niger State.
Reports Daily Trust, a witness told our correspondent that Jibrin and six traders in his car were coming back from the Sabon-Pegi weekly market at about 10pm on Sunday when he ran into a road block put in place by terrorists.
“The attackers opened fire and the driver died on the spot, three traders sustained gunshot injuries while three others were kidnapped,” he claimed.
Suspected terrorists believed to be members of the Lakurawa group blocked the Ibbi-Patiko-New Bussa road yesterday (Sunday) at about 10pm in huge numbers.
They worked for a few hours. “Jibrin was killed, three of his passengers were seriously injured and three others were kidnapped,” he claimed.
When reached, the spokesman of Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, promised to get back with information of the event but had not done so as at press time last night.
