A 37-year-old man, Ziaulihak Zakari, popularly called Abuja, has allegedly confessed to taking N500,000 to carry out an acid assault on a female spa worker in the Lakowe area of Lagos State.
The attack was said to have happened on October 25, 2025, and the victim, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, was said to have suffered serious injuries on her head, chest and hands, The PUNCH reports.
Awosogbon reportedly was attending to a home service request booked through the spa she worked for. The appointment was set at Lakowe Golf Gate, near Utmost Care Hospital, where the event occurred.
However, findings reveal she was not the intended target.
Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, her employer, told our correspondent that the attack was connected to a disagreement about a prior relationship between her and another suspect said to have hired Zakari.
She said the relationship lasted a few months and was marked by conflicts before it ended.
Zakari and Owolabi Daniel have now been charged before a Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta for conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm
Zakari, who was supposedly captured on March 19, 2026, admitted that he was recruited for the attack but said he inadvertently attacked the incorrect person, in a video received by our correspondent today.
“Some man named Daniel called me through a security guard and said he had a job. “I needed someone to pour acid on a person and I agreed,” he stated.
“I couldn’t do it the first time because I was scared. I got another chance and I misjudged the target and shot the wrong person.
‘The man and the security guard bought the acid. “I got N500,000 for the job and gave the security guard N50,000 for linking me up. I regret my actions,” he said.
The charge sheet said the suspects plotted to conduct crime, to wit: threats to life and causing harm contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 at Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki in October 2025.
It further stated that Owolabi endangered Ifeoluwa’s life through WhatsApp messages, an act punishable under Section 232 of the same code.
Zakari was also charged with illegally hurting Awosogbon by spilling a caustic liquid on her, pursuant to Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
