On Saturday, there were mass rallies all around the United States against President Donald Trump and his administration. Organizers said this was one of the greatest coordinated protest actions in recent months.
The “No Kings” protests took place in big cities like New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Boston, Nashville, and Houston, and there were also smaller rallies in communities around the country. The organizers believe that the protests are the third big event for the campaign, which has already drawn millions of people.
Protesters spoke out against many government policies, including as the US’s involvement in the Iran crisis, tighter immigration enforcement by the federal government, and the rising cost of living. Organizers made a forceful statement accusing Trump of being authoritarian and said that power should stay with the people.
“Trump wants to be a tyrant and rule over us. The group said, “But this is America, and the people, not wannabe kings, have the power.”
Thousands of people went to the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial in the capital city, waving flags and holding signs that criticized the government. Protesters also marched across bridges that connect states to the capital, showing how many people were involved.
Minnesota was one of the main places where the protests took place. People are still angry about the deaths of two residents during a federal immigration operation in January. Thousands of people came to the state capitol in St. Paul, where numerous Democratic leaders spoke to them.
Bruce Springsteen, a famous musician, also showed there and sang a protest song that connected with the protesters.

In New York City, a lot of people flooded Times Square and marched through Manhattan, which made the police close off important roads. Other cities saw similar scenes.
But there were some problems during the protests. After demonstrators and federal agents clashed in Los Angeles, officials verified that arrests were made and that officers were hurt. There were more arrests in Dallas as little fights broke out between counter-protesters.
Even though there were some problems, the organizers said that most of the protests were peaceful. Several states had already called in the National Guard to deal with massive crowds.
Outside of the United States, American expats held protests of support in locations like Paris, London, and Lisbon.
The White House didn’t care about the protests, and a spokesperson said they were not important and were only happening because of media attention.
Since taking office again in January 2025, Trump has used executive actions to make big changes to policy, including as reorganizing sectors of the federal government and sending National Guard troops to communities. Critics say these acts endanger democratic principles.
The president has defended his steps as necessary to bring back stability, but critics continue to worry that they go too far, which could lead to more political problems in the coming months.
