Abubakar Malami, who used to be the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, says that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) broke the law by sealing his home in Abuja without going through the proper channels.
Malami said today in Abuja that armed members of the commission broke into his home in Maitama and kicked out his family members without showing a legitimate court order.
The former AGF called the action unnecessary and a blatant violation of the law, saying that it was wrong for the anti-graft agency to go after the property while the case was still in court, according to The Nation.
Malami said that there is an ongoing legal dispute over the property in question and that he had already filed a request to have an interim forfeiture order that had been granted earlier canceled.
He further said that the commission should have waited for the Federal High Court in Abuja to decide on his case on April 20 instead of acting on its own.
