The Village Boys and Girls Movement (VBGM) says they are not to blame for the chaos that broke out at the City Boys Movement’s Owerri location for the empowerment program.
The group said that bad planning and bad crowd control by the organizers were to blame for the chaos.
The Guardian writes that there was a huge stampede at the Owerri venue of the scheduled outreach program by the founders of the City Boys Movement. The organizers blamed the VBGM for bringing street kids to mess up the event.
Tochukwu Ezeoke, the Village Headmaster, rejected any such intervention in response to the accusation against VBGM. He said that trying to connect it to the stampede was a pointless attempt to hide the administrative disarray and incompetence that characterize the actions of the current administration.
Ezeoke said that the failure in Owerri was due to “gross ineptitude,” but the organizers and their online followers refused to take responsibility.
Ezeoke said, “The City Boys couldn’t even handle a simple public gathering without it turning into deadly chaos.” What happened in Owerri shows how bad its principal and the government are, which has led to the country’s moral and economic decline.
“A stinging reminder of the hunger, anger, and carelessness that have grown common since Tinubu took office. It is clear that bad government and increased suffering are making Nigerians desperate.
He said that the VBGM chose simplicity over showmanship to make sure that its message of hope, discipline, and empowerment got through. He also said that the group is getting ready for its planned “Two Million-Man March” in honor of Mr. Peter Obi, whom he called a beacon of integrity and vision for a better Nigeria.
