The Police Service Commission (PSC) has given the green light for 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to move up to the position of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).
The Nation claims that this happened after they did well on the written tests and oral interviews that were held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The PSC said that the promotion was based on merit and was meant to improve professionalism and leadership in the force.

The Commission also agreed to move 35 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) up to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
It praised the PSC board members, such as Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC retd.), Dr. Taiwo Lakanu (DIG rtd.), and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, the commission’s Secretary, for their important roles in making the exercise a success.
The PSC said again that it is committed to making the Nigeria Police Force professional, effective, and responsible through fair and strict promotion processes.
DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), the PSC Chairman, congratulated individuals who had been promoted. He said that the promotions were a sign of merit, devotion, and excellent service.
He told the newly promoted officers to work even harder and prove that they deserve their new levels by being fully committed to keeping the peace and protecting the country.
“The promotion is not the end; it is an opportunity to do more to protect lives and property.” The commission is still dedicated to openness, merit, and following the best practices throughout the world in all promotion processes. We say: If you don’t pass, you don’t pass. You’ll have to take the test again next time. “According to public service rules, you have to retire after three failures,” Argungu said.
