Due to their involvement in exam misconduct, the Senate of the Federal University, Dutse in Jigawa State, has recommended the expulsion of 20 students and the rustication of 15 more.
This is stated in a statement released yesterday in Dutse by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, and signed by Director of Academic Affairs, Nora Dannatta.
According to the statement, the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct’s recommendations for the Second Semester of the 2024–2025 academic year served as the foundation for the action.
It revealed that the Senate also authorized the exoneration of two pupils and warned three others in writing.
It stated in part, “Those affected were drawn from various faculties and departments of the university, and the decision was in accordance with the categories of offences and punishments governing both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.”
A similar incident was previously recorded in which 28 students were expelled from the University of Abuja for offenses like as drug use, examination misconduct, cult-related activities, and threats to life.
The school claims that “the affected students were found culpable of serious misconduct, including possession and use of hard drugs, assault, conspiracy, burglary, theft, and falsification of ‘O’ Level results uploaded on the university portal for admission.”
