Richard Appiah, a footballer and draughtsman who was found guilty of killing two children in Abesim in the Bono Region, has been sentenced to life in prison by the High Court in Accra.
The sentencing came after a seven-member jury found the defendant guilty of two counts of murder.
The people that died were 12 and 15 years old when the murders happened in 2021.
The court, led by Justice Ruby Aryeetey, had been hearing Appiah’s case since 2022. He was 28 at the time of the crime.
The tragedy, which stunned many in Abesim and the rest of the Bono Region, has gotten a lot of attention since the bodies of the kids were found.
