The Anambra State Police Command has taken two women, Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, into custody in connection with the disappearance of 16-year-old Miss Oluebube Chukwuma in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said this in a news release today.
The PUNCH said that Ikenga also said that police officers from the Ozubulu Division detained the accused yesterday based on information from technology.
He went on to say that the suspects admitted to being engaged in the case of the youngster during questioning and said that the victim is now in Ghana.
The statement said that “operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to Ozubulu Division, acting on a technologically-driven information on the evening of January 26, 2026, arrested two female suspects, Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, over a reported case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.
“During questioning, the suspects admitted to being involved in the minor’s disappearance and said that the victim is now in Ghana.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, says that the suspects should be moved right away to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough and private investigation to find out what happened when the girl was moved and who else was involved. As the investigations continue, more information will be given.
On January 18, it was reported that the Anambra State Police Command had arrested a 28-year-old man named Friday Akonobi in connection with the kidnapping and alleged ritual killing of a six-year-old girl. The case is linked to an Enugu-based suspected native doctor named Obieze Ezeani, who is also known as “Edey Play” or “Edey Show.”
A five-man group kidnapped the victim, Ozioma Nwankwo, from the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on May 10, 2025, and sold her to a supposed native doctor in Enugu State.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday that Akonobi was arrested on Saturday by members of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu after receiving reliable information.
Ikenga stated that during questioning, the suspect supposedly admitted to committing the crime alongside four other people who are still on the run.
