A 25-year-old suspected quack physician has been detained by the Ondo State Police Command for reportedly running an illicit clinic in Ore, the state’s headquarters for the Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area.
Yesterday, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in a statement.
As part of increased efforts to destroy medical criminal networks around the state, Jimoh stated that the suspect, named as Idris Nasiru, was captured after an intelligence-led operation conducted by the command’s surveillance team.
Injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and other various medical supplies were found during a search of the suspect’s shop, he said.
He added that used injection bottles, needles, and syringes were found during additional searches at Nasiru’s home, which were carried out in accordance with a properly executed search warrant.
According to Jimoh, “preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally.”
The police spokeswoman stated that the suspect will face charges after investigations were completed and that he had provided helpful comments while in custody.
According to Jimoh, the state’s commissioner of police asked citizens to keep giving reliable information to help the command fight crime and criminality.
Additionally, he cautioned the public against falling for quack practitioners when seeking medical attention.
Residents were reassured by the police of the command’s dedication to eliminating all medical-related offenses throughout the state.
