A loaded Mack 40-foot containerized truck overturned on Ojuelegba Bridge leading into National Stadium in Surulere, according to confirmation from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
Taofiq Adebayo, a spokesman for LASTMA, confirmed the development Wednesday.
According to Mr. Adebayo, as the container descended the bridge, it totally blocked the road, making it impossible for other cars to approach it.
There were no casualties reported. In order to connect Funsho Williams Avenue to Barracks, all vehicle movements from Fadeyi, Onipan have been redirected through the service lane at Ojuelegba, he stated.
In order to guarantee a safe and timely evacuation of the truck, he said, LASTMA officials were on the ground with equipment and actively coordinating the essential emergency and recovery actions.
“Drivers are informed that the Ojuelegba Bridge inward stadium has been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic in the interim and until the evacuation is completed,” he said.
He promised that there would be updates.
