Suspected bandits have kidnapped a bride-to-be and her bridesmaid in a new attack on Chacho hamlet, which is in the Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Today, armed guys broke into the neighborhood and grabbed the bride, her close friend, and eight other people.
There is only one man among the victims. Channels TV says that one person was hurt in the attack and is now getting medical help.
Residents told our reporter that the attackers came while the bride was getting ready for her wedding later that day.
A member of the community who didn’t want to be named called the event unfortunate.
He added that her wedding was planned to happen this morning. They took her and the bridesmaids away instead.
He also reported that security forces were called during the incident but didn’t show up until an hour after the shooters had left. This delay has made the locals angry, he said.
He went on to say, “We are asking the government to take its duty seriously and keep people and their property safe.”
The attack was confirmed by DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the Sokoto State Police Command’s spokesman. He said that preliminary information had been received and that more details were being gathered.
The attack is the most recent in a series of mass kidnappings that have been happening in Nigeria lately.
Earlier today, gunmen broke into a church in Kogi State and took a pastor and his wife hostage.
During Sunday worship, the freshly built Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area was attacked.
People stated that armed bandits attacked the church service and threw the town into disarray.
A resident said that the incident made others who were praying escape for safety as gunfire rang out in the neighborhood. The church’s pastor, who is well-known as Orlando, was taken away with his wife and a few other people.
