Mike Ejiofor, a former head of the DSS, has urged the US government to treat with the seriousness befitting President Trump’s accusations of Christian genocide and threats of military action.
As a guest on Channels Television yesterday night, Ejiofor urged the government of Nigeria to try to handle the matter diplomatically.
The United States government ought to give Donald Trump its full attention, in my opinion. I urge the government of Nigeria to exhaust all diplomatic avenues,” he declared.
Just one day after designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), Trump made a bombastic statement on his Truth Social Platform last week, threatening military action in response to what he claims is a mass killing of Christians in the country.
“Extremely Important Issue”
On Truth Social, Trump threatened that the United States would cut off all aid and assistance to Nigeria and even invade the country with “guns blazing” to eliminate the Islamic terrorists responsible for the killing of Christians if the government there persists in its policies of intolerance.
Our Department of War is being ordered by me to be ready for action. Our assault, should it occur, will be swift, savage, and delightful.
Despite the federal government’s denial of the claims and reaffirmation of its support for religious freedom, the former head of the DSS maintains that Trump’s remark cannot be taken lightly.
When discussing Donald Trump, it becomes a pretty weighty issue, you know. The comment attributed to Donald Trump is deeply problematic, in Ejiofor’s opinion, because Trump always follows through on his promises.
Therefore, we should not ignore this play. A danger lurks there.
